What is Acupuncture?

The main therapeutic effects of needling acupuncture points begin with activating centers of nerve fibers. This stimulation brings about changes that help to normalize nerve signaling and neurotransmitter activity, release muscle tension, and affect autonomic nervous system function (which impacts mood, digestion, immune function, and more).

Some Conditions that Benefit from Acupuncture Include:

  • Digestive ailments such as colitis, diarrhea, and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Respiratory issues such as sinusitis and recurrent infections
  • Neurologic problems such as peripheral neuropathy, sciatic pain, spinal cord injury, and nerve-related back pain
  • Musculoskeletal complaints, including knee pain, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, back pain, neck pain, and muscle spasms

How Many Treatments Will Be Needed?

The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. For difficult or long-standing conditions, treatments may be needed two to five times weekly for several weeks. Most patients begin to show improvement within the first few sessions if acupuncture is going to be effective.

Give us a call to schedule if you think your pet would benefit from acupuncture! We are really looking forward to seeing positive results in our patients!
